Benefits of Regular Chiropractic Adjustments
Video by Dr. Trent Yeomans
One of the biggest things I see in my office in East Dallas is this idea that one visit to a chiropractor should fix everything. Someone comes in with low back pain or neck pain, we get a great first adjustment, they feel some relief, and then they think they’re good to go.
The reality is, most of the conditions I see, especially acute flare-ups, didn’t happen overnight. Whether it’s back pain, headaches, or a disc issue, your body has been building toward that problem over time. That means it takes consistent, repeated movement into those joints, along with the right exercises, to actually get you out of pain and keep you there.
Quotes (Research Support)
“Spinal manipulative therapy delivered over multiple sessions is more effective than a single treatment for reducing pain and improving function.”
(Haas et al., 2004)
“Patients receiving higher frequency care demonstrated greater improvements in pain and disability compared to those receiving fewer treatments.”
(Haas et al., 2014)
“Exercise combined with manual therapy provides superior outcomes in reducing pain and improving functional status compared to either intervention alone.”
(Gross et al., 2015)
Wrap Up
What I explain to my patients is simple, we are trying to retrain your body. That takes repetition. Just like going to the gym once doesn’t make you stronger, one adjustment doesn’t fix back pain or neck pain long term.
In the early stages, especially with acute pain, getting adjusted more frequently, sometimes three times per week, allows us to keep those joints moving, reduce inflammation, and reinforce the changes we’re making. When you combine that with the right exercises, that’s when real progress happens.
In my office, we focus on moving well, strengthening the right areas, and keeping the joints functioning properly so your body can actually heal. If you’re dealing with pain and it keeps coming back, it’s usually not because chiropractic doesn’t work, it’s because the body didn’t get enough consistent input to change.
That’s where we come in. We guide you through that process so you don’t just feel better for a day, you actually fix the problem.
