Best Low Sugar Smoothie Recipe

A Very Berry Smoothie!
Drinking the same smoothie everyday can get a little boring so let’s change it up and try adding some berries in your smoothie. When you add berries to your smoothie there is less sugar than most other fruits which is very beneficial especially if you are diabetic. The sugar from the berries has to get processed by the liver before being released into the blood stream, so there will be a less glucose spike by having more berries in your smoothie compared to other fruits and anything with processed sugar.
If you are dealing with diabetes, odds are you are also dealing with cardiovascular disease (CVD). The research shows that adding berries to your diet will decrease the risk factors for cardiovascular disease along with some of our other chronic illnesses we deal with on a daily basis.
- Clinical studies in subjects with diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, or in smokers, show a significant decrease in CVD risk factors, especially glucose, lipids and lipid peroxidation, and systolic blood pressure, following berry intervention.
- Berries are emerging as a dietary source of multiple compounds and nutrients, including anthocyanins, flavanols, vitamins, and fiber, that reduce CVD risk.
Remember there is not a magic bullet when it comes to our health. Having this Best Low Sugar Smoothie everyday will provide the nutrition your body needs to function properly and heal itself like it is made to do. By changing up and eating different fruits and veggies on a daily basis, you will see your health start to change for the better.
