Chiropractic and Stress Management

As a Chiropractor, I know that stress management and mindset are key in staying healthy and out of pain, along with a good diet and regular exercise. Stress management is something that I focus on personally every day. I am always looking for different tools that I can use to help keep stress under control and to give me a different outlook on life to continue to be a healthier version of me. Stresses, worries, anxieties are always going to be there for most, but learning how to understand them and learn from them makes them more manageable and you healthier in the process. In a study done by Topper et al. they looked at interventions for anxiety and worry by targeting therapies on excessive negative thinking in young adults. They found significant improvements that reduced repetitive negative thinking which in turn showed significantly low prevalence of anxiety and depression in the groups tested after a 12-month period. One exercise I use to target the way that I think is to use the “3 Good Things” method. Every night as I am winding down before bed, I take a second to write down three good things that I experienced or happened today. This is something that helps calm the mind and anxieties before going to sleep and I’ve noticed my days have become a lot more fulfilling and less negative as I continue to try to become a healthier version of me.
