Decrease Elbow Pain
Video by Dr. Kai Badua
Mobility stretches play a crucial role in managing lateral epicondylitis—commonly known as tennis elbow—because they help reduce tissue tightness, restore normal movement patterns, and decrease elbow pain associated with overuse of the extensor tendons. Chiropractic care often focuses on improving joint mobility and soft-tissue health, which is especially important in overuse injuries like tennis elbow. This condition is increasingly prevalent not only in racquet sports like tennis and the rapidly growing sport of pickleball, but also in occupations that demand repetitive gripping, lifting, or wrist extension, making it common among manual laborers and active individuals alike. Gentle mobility work, such as wrist extensor stretches, forearm rotation mobility drills, and soft tissue lengthening techniques, helps improve flexibility in the forearm musculature, decreases strain at the lateral epicondyle, and promotes healthier tendon mechanics during daily activities and sport.
By consistently incorporating these stretches into a rehab or prevention routine, individuals can reduce inflammation, improve circulation to irritated tissues, and mitigate compensatory movement patterns that often prolong or worsen symptoms. Mobility stretching becomes especially important when combined with strengthening, ergonomic modifications, and load management, forming a comprehensive approach that supports long-term recovery and helps prevent recurrence of this common and painful condition.
