Decrease Joint Pain

As I tell my Chiropractic patients in East Dallas, it is good to have a routine that allows you to small bouts of movement throughout the day to help decrease pain and increase function of the muscles of your body. Movement is important in maintaining healthy joints and decreases the inflammation around the joints to further prevent degeneration down the line. In a study done by Lim et al. They wanted to see how much a home-based daily exercise program could influence Joint mobility, functional capacity, pain, and depression, in patients who were diagnosed with Ankylosing spondylitis (AS). What they found was that After the 8 weeks, compared with the control group, the exercise group showed improvements in joint mobility (cervical flexion, extension, shoulder flexion, abduction, hip abduction, and knee flexion), finger–floor distance, and functional capacity. Pain and depression scores were significantly lower after the exercise program in the exercise group than in the control group. So even if you can find just 20 minutes a day to do some type of movement even if it is in your house doing stretches, you can make a significant impact on your body to help further decrease pain and stiffness.
