Green Smoothie for Gut Health

Dietary fiber from foods has been shown to have so many great gut health benefits. Research has shown that fiber decreases the risk of coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and several cancers. Fiber also helps to increase post meal satiety and decreases subsequent hunger. The recommended dietary fiber intake should be around 20 to 35g/day and chia seeds provide more than 100% of the daily recommend amount. A great way to make sure were getting the gut health benefits of chia seeds is to put a serving into your daily smoothie. Chia seeds also contain a natural source of omega 3 fatty acids, proteins, and many antioxidants which are crucial in decreasing inflammation and important for many biological processes of the body. Below is a great tasting smoothie recipe so you can experience the many health benefits of chia seeds for yourself.

 

Mango and Chia seeds Smoothie Recipe

  • Half a cup of organic frozen mangos
  • 1 handful of organic frozen spinach
  • 1 ½ organic frozen bananas
  • 1 ½ tablespoons of organic Chia Seeds
  • ¼ cup of ice
  • Half a cup of water
  • Add more water to thin out consistency.
