Green Smoothie to Lower Inflammation
Video by Dr. Bryan Stephens
Although it’s not one of the first ingredients you would think of for a green smoothie, adding a pasture raised egg can raise the nutritional value significantly and help lower inflammation that causes neck and back pain.
Pasture-raised eggs offer significant health benefits compared to conventional eggs. Because pasture-raised hens have access to outdoor foraging, their diets are more varied and natural, including grasses, seeds, and insects. This varied diet results in eggs that are richer in essential nutrients.
One of the most notable health benefits is a higher content of omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart health, reduce inflammation, and may lower the risk of chronic diseases. Pasture-raised eggs also contain more vitamin D—up to six times more than conventional eggs—because the hens are exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D plays a crucial role in bone health, immune function, and mood regulation.
In addition, pasture-raised eggs have increased levels of vitamin E and beta-carotene, both of which are powerful antioxidants that help protect cells from damage and support overall immune health. These eggs often have a more vibrant orange yolk, reflecting their superior nutrient profile.
Pasture-raised eggs are also generally lower in saturated fat and cholesterol, making them a healthier choice for people looking to manage weight, heart health, or cholesterol levels. With their dense concentration of vital nutrients, pasture-raised eggs are a simple way to enhance the nutritional quality of your diet.
“The omega-6 to omega-3 ratio in pasture-raised eggs is more balanced, which reduces inflammation and supports overall health.”
