Low Back and Hip Pain

I have had a number of patients here in East Dallas experiencing hip pain along with low back pain recently and it has stemmed from a weakness of their hip muscles along with their back muscles.  This creates a disruption in the proper kinetic chain needed for movement.  By strengthening the hip, the back takes less of the stress and does not need to compensate for it which lowers the inflammation in the joints helping with the hip pain and back pain.  Along with the exercises, restoring the proper motion in the joints with chiropractic adjustments is needed to work through the restrictions that develop through an accumulation of stresses.  These stresses range from inactivity, repetitive motions, improper diet, and chronic stress.

As the hip muscles strengthen and the back pain lessens, it becomes easier to return to the activities you enjoy.  At the end of the day, that is one of my goals for my patients along with getting out of pain and staying out of pain.  I have found it is not just the pain that brings people in, but what the pain keeps them from doing. 

So, make sure you include hip strength into your workouts.  You can find that they will also assist you with your low back and encourage proper movement patterns to keep the pain away for you in the future.
