Low Sugar Green Smoothie Lemonade
As a Chiropractor I help people get out of pain and teach them how to stay healthy. One of the best ways to stay healthy and lower inflammation, which can cause back pain, neck pain headaches and more, is with Green Smoothies. This is one of my favorite recipes. It utilizes more of an acidic or citrus flavor instead of relying on the sweetness of other fruits that a lot of people use to make the smoothies taste good. If you have not tried making a green smoothie using some kind of citrus as the main flavor, I highly recommend that you give this one a try. I like using acid as the main flavor profile because it limits the amount of sugar and insulin spike that can be created when using sweeter fruits.
The main citrus of this smoothie is a lemon because I wanted to make a healthy green lemonade. Lemons are loaded with vitamin C and other healthy compounds, and I am attaching a piece of research that dives deeper into the health benefits that can be found in lemons.
“The beneficial effects of the dietary Citrus fruits can be attributed, not only to the vitamin C, minerals, dietary fiber, essential oils, organic acids and carotenoids, but also to the antioxidant activity of their flavonoids.”
“Vitamin C, by means of its antioxidant activity, may help to prevent cardiovascular diseases and arteriosclerosis.”
“Lemon fruit constitutes, in addition, a rich source of minerals necessary for health care and maintenance.”
The other reason I love this recipe is because it is a great way to add the Innate Choice Omega 3 essential nutrients because it has a citrusy lemon flavor that pairs well with this smoothie. Remember eating well is just one of the three ways that keeps us healthy. It is important to keep exercising, managing stress and receiving regular chiropractic adjustments. I hope you enjoy this recipe!
Recipe
