Omega 3's for Reducing Inflammation

Video by Dr. Tanner Tunsky

As Chiropractor’s in East Dallas, we teach our patients that reducing inflammation is a key factor in decreasing neck and back pain. Green Smoothies are an easy way to get more nutrients into your diet to help reduce inflammation. For a nutrient-dense green smoothie, try blending half an avocado with a handful of spinach, a small cucumber, and a tablespoon of chia seeds for an extra dose of fiber and omega-3s. Add one cup of unsweetened almond milk or coconut water for hydration and blend until smooth. If you’d like a touch of sweetness, consider adding a small apple or a few slices of pineapple. For an added boost, you can sprinkle in a pinch of turmeric, which pairs well with avocado’s rich texture while offering powerful anti-inflammatory properties. This green smoothie is not only satisfying but also incredibly nourishing.

Avocados are rich in heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, which are known to help reduce inflammation in the body. In addition to their healthy fats, they contain a variety of vitamins, such as vitamin E, vitamin C, and several B-vitamins, all of which play a role in promoting anti-inflammatory responses. The high levels of potassium in avocados also help balance sodium levels, further reducing the risk of chronic inflammation. This makes avocados an excellent choice for individuals looking to support joint health or manage conditions linked to inflammation, such as arthritis. By incorporating avocado into your daily routine, you can help soothe inflammation from the inside out.

Incorporating this avocado-based green smoothie into your diet is a simple yet powerful way to benefit from the anti-inflammatory properties of avocados. Regular consumption of avocados may help alleviate discomfort related to joint pain, promote healthy skin, and support overall cellular function. Not only does the drink deliver key nutrients to your body, but it also supports a balanced, anti-inflammatory diet. Whether you enjoy it in the morning to start your day or as a refreshing mid-afternoon snack, this avocado green smoothie is a great way to nourish your body and keep inflammation at bay.
