Reduce Low Back Pain
Video by Dr. Antonio Flaquer
Pelvic tilts may look simple, but they’re one of the most effective exercises for building a strong, stable core and reducing lower back pain and is an exercise we use daily for our patents in East Dallas. This gentle movement focuses on engaging the deep abdominal and pelvic muscles—particularly the transverse abdominis and pelvic floor—which act as a natural support system for your spine. By regularly practicing pelvic tilts, you train these muscles to stabilize your pelvis and lower back, improving posture and reducing strain during everyday activities.
Lower back pain often stems from weak or imbalanced core muscles and poor pelvic alignment. When the pelvis is tilted too far forward or backward, it places extra stress on the lumbar spine. Pelvic tilts help correct these imbalances by improving awareness of your pelvic positioning and encouraging proper spinal alignment. Over time, this enhances flexibility in the lower back and hips while strengthening the muscles that support your spine.
Another key benefit of pelvic tilts is that they’re accessible for nearly everyone—whether you’re recovering from an injury, pregnant, or simply looking to improve core stability. They can be performed lying down, sitting, or standing, making them a versatile addition to any fitness or rehabilitation routine. Consistency is key; even a few minutes a day can lead to noticeable improvements in mobility, comfort, and posture.
Incorporating pelvic tilts into your daily routine not only strengthens your core but also builds a foundation for pain-free movement. By nurturing your body’s core stability and alignment, you can reduce tension, prevent future back issues, and move with greater ease and confidence.
