Find Time for Peace
to Stay Healthy

Peaceful Mornings
There is a peace that I find early in the mornings before anyone else gets up in my house. While I enjoy the company of family and friends, there is a need to also be alone and focus on myself. I often find myself focusing on gratitude or meditating during these quiet times, but other times I just sit and observe. Regardless of the action, the constant with it is the silence.
This becomes even more clear to me after weekends like this past one. I went to visit family for my niece’s 4th birthday party. I’ll start off with this. It was a blast. Jump houses are fun even when you’re no longer considered a child. But when the weekend was over, I found myself looking forward to the next morning when I could get back to my early morning routine. I felt more energized just sitting in quiet on Monday than I did waking up on Saturday with the upcoming party. Since energy is fuel, I continually find ways to fill my fuel tank up in the morning to ensure I have enough for myself, my patients, and my family when I get home at the end of the day. One of the ways I do this is by taking time to myself in the morning and filling it with a mix of quiet and information. The quiet allows time for reflection and a peaceful attitude before I switch to informative readings or podcasts. This mixed with exercise lead to me feeling more energized and ready to take on the day. They have even found that mindful meditation during the silence can help with older individuals dealing with insomnia.
Silence is Golden
I encourage you to find some time this week to sit in silence. Even if it’s only 2 minutes long, you can still get the benefit of relaxation and can lower your overall stress. Enjoy the sounds of silence.
